family therapy; It is a therapeutic approach to problems involving family members, including spouses, children and, if necessary, close relatives.

In family therapy, a psychiatric or psychological problem that develops in one of the family members is dealt with within the framework of family relations and dynamics, or the relational conflict, distress and complaints of the individuals in the family are tried to be resolved as a whole.

Family therapy has its roots in studies conducted in the United States in the 1950s. Social Workers realized that most of the patients' problems at that time should be evaluated and taken into account within the concept of family. In the spiritual development of a person, first of all, his family and then his social environment have a great influence. As a result, some experts have begun to invite the family to counseling sessions and to include them in the psychotherapy processes.

Family therapy, which is an independent psychotherapy method, has been developed from family therapy practices. Because family therapy and systemic therapy methods are closely related to each other, family therapists also receive systemic therapy training. However, family therapy is not tied to any one form of therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapists, behavioral therapists, logotherapists, existential and dynamically oriented (psychoanalytic psychotherapy) therapists also offer family therapy services.

The Family Therapist includes everyone involved in the therapy process in family therapy. In a narrow sense, the focus is not just on the family. In family therapy, the term family has been expanded to include groups formed by different methods.
