What is gynecological oncology?

The branch of science that examines cancers originating from the female reproductive organs is called gynecological oncology. Physicians interested in this field are called "gynecologists".

What does gynecological oncology look at?

The ovaries, uterus, tubes, vagina, and vulva that limit the entrance to the vagina are female reproductive organs. Gynecological oncology also plays a role in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancers detected in these organs. Gynecological oncology is a department that hosts the best doctors. Gynecological oncology surgery is also a branch of gynecological oncology. Gynecological oncology is also known by many as gynecology oncology, gynecological cancer surgery, and gynecological oncology.

Duties and responsibilities can be listed as follows:

  • To examine the patient evaluations made by gynecological oncology doctors and to request additional tests if deemed necessary,
  • Biopsy if necessary
  • Planning and implementing reconnaissance operations if there is doubt about the diagnosis of the disease,
  • To evaluate whether patients are suitable for surgery before surgery,

  • To make the necessary planning if other oncological treatments are required after the operation,
  • To manage the entire surgical process correctly.
