What is periodontology, what does it look at?

Gum problems do not bother people at a single point. There are very sensitive nerve endings around the teeth and a strong structural bond that will affect the whole body. A general disease is seen in people who have problems with the female. Because toothache, in general, has an effect that will significantly affect the general functioning of the neck, headaches and the whole body.

Any dental treatment that is postponed as a simple toothache causes permanent damage to the gums and many irreversible damages that may occur in the root of the tooth, and can lead to tooth loss. In this process, long-term inflammation and the general discomfort caused by it is a factor that can significantly reduce the quality of life of the person in his normal life.

How is Periodontology Treatment Performed?

Gum diseases are first detected based on the x-ray result taken in the mouth as a result of the doctor's examination. With X-ray, it is observed that the gingival recession and tooth roots are larger than normal sizes, and if there is inflamed tissue, it is determined in which areas it is. Dental plaques, on the other hand, take up more space over time and completely surround the root of the tooth.

Periodontology department does not only deal with oral disorders. They also perform professional dental cleaning with special devices. The diseases that the periodontology department looks at are:

  • Gum Inflammation: Making some mistakes while brushing teeth or not using dental floss causes bacteria to grow in the mouth. Bacteria cause inflammation in the gums.
  • Gum Retraction: Gums are pulled back to expose the root of the tooth. Gaps are formed between the retracted gums and prepare the ground for bacteria.
  • Gingival Bleeding: These bleedings can sometimes be caused by diseases such as diabetes, hemophilia, or due to inflammation. Any disease that causes bleeding gums can lead to tooth loss if left untreated.
  • Microbial Dental Plaque (Plaque Formation): Bacteria in the mouth accumulate over time and form a yellow layer. If these plaques are not cleaned, they secrete acid and cause serious damage to the teeth.
