Skin and Venereal Diseases, also known as Dermatology, is a medical science that deals with diseases of skin appendages such as skin and hair, sweat and sebaceous glands, nails. Along with diseases that occur in the genital area and mouth, sexually transmitted diseases are also included in the scope of skin and venereal diseases. Dermatology, on the other hand, has emerged from the combination of cosmetics and skin and venereal diseases, and its specialist is called Dermatologist.

The main diseases that are of interest to the Department of Skin and Venereal Diseases (Dermatologists) are as follows;

  • Acne (pimples)
  • Parasitic skin diseases (Lice, Scabies etc.)
  • Fungal Diseases: athlete's foot, body fungus, nail fungus, scalp fungus, vaginal yeast infections
  • Bacterial and viral rash diseases (skin abscess and other inflammatory diseases, scarlet measles, rubella, chicken pox, shingles)
  • Psoriasis etc. dematoses
  • Allergic skin diseases (Acute and chronic urticaria, skin reactions due to drugs, insect bites, food allergies, diseases due to sunlight and allergic reactions)
  • Eczemas (Atopic, contact, nummular, dyshidrotic, seborrheic eczema)
  • Hair diseases (Hair loss, Scalp eczema, Dandruff)
  • Lip, tongue and oral cavity diseases (recurrent aphthae, herpes, and other diseases occurring in the mouth)
