Medical genetics is a branch responsible for the study of genetically inherited diseases.

A geneticist is a person who decodes genetic codes such as DNA that composes organisms, interprets, reports and archives data for use in various medical fields.

Medical Genetic Specialists may recommend genetic tests for definitive diagnosis, if a specific genetic disorder is suspected and genetic testing is available for the suspected disease, by carefully evaluating the patient's complaints and the presence of genetic problems in the family, as well as the history of the disease.

Genetic testing is a type of medical test that identifies changes in genes inherited from our parents, which we usually pass on to our children. "Errors" in our genes are called mutations. It can reveal the disease and genetic testing can be used to confirm the diagnosis of the disease.

A few of the diseases revealed by Genetic Test;

  • albinism
  • Down syndrome
